10 days

What all can happen in the span of 10 days? Well, if you have following along so far, then you will see it is not a lot followed by BAM! I would like to say the 10 days were peaceful and uneventful, but my life doesn't work that way.

Obviously, 3 days were spent in the hospital. I was confined to a bed or a recliner. They must have been warned about my stubborn independence because there were alarms on both of those, which meant I had to call a nurse if I wanted to get up and walk or use the bathroom. They did remove the alarms Sunday afternoon after I proved myself capable! If you followed on facebook, there were some updates of my visitors, so I will spare you the recap. Most of my time was spend waiting for certain organs to "wake up."

Monday, the 23rd, I got the all clear to go home! Unfortunately, it was earlier than anticipated, so my ride home choices were Caleb or Hannah. Did I want to drift home or potentially crash? I chose the drifter. Thankfully, I made it home safely and planted myself in a the recliner.

Christmas eve was the 24th...just like it is every year. Samantha came over for a while so she could walk me. I mostly sat on the couch all day. I had decided the recliner was not comfortable. I had been having some back pain. It was a new pain. I just didn't feel well. I know...major surgery, but something was off. Late afternoon/early evening, I checked my temperature. I had one. There was a lot of debate about what to do. Josh and Morganne would be landing in Houston a little before 6am. Samantha had to go home. Marc...well, he didn't want to go to the hospital and I don't think Caleb was home. Hannah took me to the ER. We almost did die! I would have kissed the ground when I got to the hospital, but I couldn't bend over. She dropped me off and went to park. By the time she made it into the building, they were wheeling me back. I guess things move a lot faster with recent surgery and cancer. So many tests were run. So much blood was taken. They suspected either sepsis or a PE. I suspected a UTI, despite only having back pain and no other symptoms. Thankfully, I was correct! The challenge was getting a prescription filled on Christmas eve night. Hannah and I headed home and Marc went to a 24 hour pharmacy to pick up my antibiotics. Finally, on the road to recovery???

So, we are on day 5 now. Christmas! That day needs to explanation. It was nice to have my whole family and Caleb's plus 1 around.

Day 6  was spent doing more of the same...sitting and walking.

Day 7 I loaded up on pain meds and went to my cousin's visitation. I knew I would not be able to sit for the funeral the next day. There were too many funerals for my family this year.

Day 8 was the day of the tornado! It was crazy close to us, but thankfully we were fine.

Day 9 we all piled in the car to go celebrate Hannah's 18th birthday!

Day 10 Samantha got engaged! Anthony told me while I was in the hospital that he wanted me to be there, but I told him not change his plans for me. I knew I could not go hide out at the location, because it would require me to walk about 2 miles. So, I stayed home and stalked their locations and socials. Finally, they came back to the house around 10 pm.

Day 11...I know, I only said 10, but 11 was a little nuts. Day 11 was New Year's Eve. There were people over waiting for midnight to blow up all of the things! I wanted low key...my children and I have different ideas of what that means. However, Josh and Morganne were here and they don't get to see the Texas friends very often.

What's next? Oncology appointment on January 6 and surgeon follow up on January 8.
