Delay and lots of Doctor visits
Round 7 of chemo was supposed to happen Monday. It didn't. My white blood cell count was too low. I can't say that I was surprised, but was hoping that wouldn't be the case. Caleb was sick. Morganne was sick. Sam got sick. Hannah didn't get sick. I didn't get sick either. Then after a long travel day, I had a long work day. I just was really tired. I slept almost 12 hours one night and it still didn't feel like it was enough. That was likely my body doing its job to fight off whatever they all had. Does that mean my already weakened immune system is beast mode?
The delay was kind of a blessing. I had to get a new (to me) car. I don't know what we are going to do with my old car. It is still at the shop, but we will need to tow it home. We still owe on the car, yet can't afford to replace the engine. I would like it back here because I have a lot of things in the car that I need. Then I need to figure out what to do with it. I am sure the bank will be calling soon since I took it off insurance.
Thursday, I had my annual physical. I am starting to feel like I am living at Methodist. That doctor ordered all the yearly tests along with the blood work that doesn't get taken regularly. At some point this month I will get around to scheduling my mammogram. It was all good last year. I do have a follow up with her next week to discuss a few other things though.
Today, Friday, I went in this morning for fasting blood work with my PCP. Then I went back this afternoon for my prechemo blood work. They had me wait for 20 minutes for the really important numbers to come back. Well... they were worse than Monday. Monday my WBC number was 1,100. Today it was 568, plus my lymphocytes were low. I don't think they were low Monday. They do math to get the ANC number, but I don't see those. I think my nurse Monday said that my WBCs need to be above 1,500, but they really like them above 2,000. Of course, none of those numbers come close to being normal. Today they gave me a shot of Zarxio to stimulate the production in my bone marrow. Hopefully it works. Of course a side effect is bone pain. It will go along nicely with my muscle pain from hitting the gym and overestimating myself. I will just say that nothing hurt while lifting, but my muscles sure feel it now. My legs and glutes are at the stage where when trying to sit on the toilet, they will only go so low before you have to just fall the rest of the way. This is one of those times that IYKYK. Leg day...
I plan to have a chill evening while Hannah makes cookies for her softball party tomorrow. That is the only thing on my calendar for tomorrow. Then another full day Sunday. I guess no chemo is another blessing. There would have been no way I could have handled this Sunday on a chemo week. I really won't have a break all day. Sunday night, Sam is going to try to plan to have a dinner (with a small budget) ready when I get home. Hopefully I will get home closer to 7:30 than 8:00.
So that is all for my eventful week! Next week should be chemo Monday, disconnect Wednesday, and follow up with PCP Thursday.
