I will do better....

I have decided that I will do better with the updates...even when I don't feel there is much of an update.

Today, I tried to have a day of rest. That wasn't initially my intention though. My plan was to  get up and do all of the things that I needed to do and then do a garage workout.

That is not how my day went. I actually slept in...all the way until 7:15. If you only who how much of a morning person I am NOT, you would  be rolling on the floor right now. I am 2 weeks into a full time job and 3 weeks into half marathon training. All of that while living 48 miles from my job...in a major city. Some days it takes me an hour...others can take almost 2. Needless to say, by time I get home, I do not want to run. Add in the fact that it is still SUMMER with what feels like 100% humidity and in the 90's...not happening! So...I have been getting up at 5am and going for a run....still humid. The catch is that I have to be dressed and ready, do my run, shower, and get dressed and ready again all before 6:40. Y'all....I am not a fast runner! I am even slower after a year of anemia, cancer, and 8 months of chemo. I honestly don't know how I have been doing it. Add to the fact that I am naturally a night owl. My body has yet to adjust to getting up early and going to bed early...before 11. I know at some point it will, but until then...I am going to be dragging by Thursday and Friday.

So...back to my day. I slept in. I had an appointment with my oncologist. Nothing unexpected was discussed.

Before I go on, I am watching the Netflix  movie, "The Wrong Paris"...I feel that should be italicized instead of in quotes, but just know...my fingers don't work how they should. The longer I type, the more my fingers sting. I will not be editing anything!

My movie review...It is a cross between Hallmark, a stereotypical Texas,  and a reality show. I don't watch reality shows, but I suppose that is what it is like. I won't give it away, just in case you want to watch it and be surprised. The Hallmark movie lover in me did like it though.

So, my oncologist appointment came and went without much fan fare...other than a butt load of new appointments scheduled in MyChart. Everything is trending the way it should be. If it weren't for the darn lung nodules on my CT, I would be good. She asked if I had been sick before the CT. I had not, but...if you remember, before the wedding Samantha, Marc, and Hannah all had something.

Speaking of wedding...I really want photos!

I did not get sick while everyone else around me dropped. This could have caused what we saw in my lungs. This is what I will be praying for. I want to be one of those cancer patients that shows NED...no evidence of disease. Remission is not a thing anymore. Am I currently NED? All of my testing says so...other than a not quite all clear on my CT.

So, what is next? Well....a bunch more appointments in MyChart. I have a port flush scheduled every 8 weeks for the next year. This will include my ctDNA test. My oncology appointment is scheduled for some Friday in December. I  also have a chest CT scheduled for Dec 5. This is what we are praying for!!! I still need to make the dreaded colonoscopy.... It needs to be 525,600 minutes from the last one.

In all honesty, I have written a blog post titled 525, 600 minutes in my head for the last few months...you may or may not get that update in November. IFYKYN...If not...sorry, expand yourself.

I totally went off the rails with this. I had my appointment this morning. I came home and waited for Hannah to join the life of the living. We grocery shopped.

THEN I went to get a mani/pedi! We all got one done a few days before the wedding. It was marvelous, but my mails were not looking so marvelous anymore.

Today...which is now yesterday (I have no idea where I was going with the start of the sentence I just deleted), I had a day that I didn't know I needed.

Today, the real today, I got up and attempted my 5 mile run. It was pretty late in the day and so very hot and it turned into a walk after 2.5 miles. I took a break and then mowed the front yard. Now I am resting up for the week ahead. I am ready to hit the ground running!

I guess I want to tell a bad joke before leaving you wondering what on earth goes on in my brain?

Here goes...

You know what?

It's not a chicken butt, it's a dog butt!

I know, so lame! We have two dogs at home, my dog Grunt and Hannah's dog Athena. When they hear a car outside or basically any other noise, what you see in the photo is how they stand until they figure out what is going on. Many times this pose ends with barks and maybe some low growls. Other times their tails will slowly start wagging as they see who may be coming to the door. Depending on who they see, those tails will slowly  start wagging faster. This usually ends with them jumping off the couch to greet whoever is coming to the door.

Until next time...
