Hello...I am waving at you!

Hello! It has been a minute since I have spent time in the hospital area. By area, I mean, Dr office, infusion center, lab, or imaging area. Not sure if you remember way back when I was there 2-3 times a week. I know I sure do! At some point in the life of this blog, I mentioned that I frequently would wave at doors for them to open. That is the way things are done around Methodist. That is not the way things are done at church...or anyone else in public. So, many times I would wave my hand at a door that wouldn't open. I am sure anyone who witnessed this little brain fart moment probably thought I had lost my mind. To the right is a photo of the sensor that opens all of the doors! They are all pretty much in the same location in relation to the door, so waving can just become a natural motion.
Back in April/May, Marc killed my car while I was in California visiting Josh and Morganne. If you remember, my chemo was delayed the day after I returned due to low white blood cells. So, we went and bought a new to me car. I know that I probably should have cropped and zoomed into this photo, but it is already uploaded and I just don't want to do it right now. It is ok though...most of you probably scroll and read on your phone anyway. That makes zooming in super easy. Do you see the button below the "P" button? It is a waving hand! Can I wave my hand and start my car? I am sure if I started waving at my car, people would call for a welfare check. I mean, should I really be driving a vehicle if I just sit there and wave at it? I kind of feel like there needs to be an idiot guide to tell you what all of the buttons, symbols, lights, and all of the other crazy things on these newer cars are. Yes, I know that idiot book is called the Instruction/User Manual, BUT since I bought this car used, it didn't have one. No fear...I did not wave at my car very often. Even if I did, I claim chemo brain. Can you guess how I found out what that button did?
I googled, "waving hand button on Ford Explorer."
I was a little upset that it wasn't some fancy automatic something that did something cool when you waved at it. To spare you looking silly or googling something so silly, i will tell you what google said this button does.
The AI Overview:

The waving hand button on a Ford Explorer is the Auto Hold Button, which automatically keeps the brakes applied after you come to a complete stop and holds the vehicle in place, even after you take your foot off the brake pedal. When engaged, the system will hold the vehicle stationary until you press the accelerator to move forward.

Ok, but why?

I have only used it driving through Chick-fil-a, Cane's, or Starbucks. I don't get it. Those places don't move slow enough to justify pushing the little wave button. OOOHHHHHH, I bet it would be great at Whataburger! That drive through it stupid long. I would rather starve than go there. Maybe is should be called the Whataburger button instead of Auto Hold. Then again, I am a little disappointed that it isn't a button that does something cool if I wave my hand.

Let's get to the reason why I was at the hospital area. I had my port flush and blood work done. Port is good. It flows well... I had a CBC with platelet and differential, metabolic panel, CEA, total iron binding capacity, ferritin level, and estimated GFR. Every single component of each of those tests was normal. I do not remember the last time I didn't have the "abnormal" marker on the result header page. Even way back in 2020 when I got my blood drawn for all of my broken finger surgeries, I had abnormal. Looking back... It was likely an indicator that something was amiss. Anemia is just one of those things that is "normal" for women. High monocytes...I don't know. It was normal for me to see those things on a blood test. Granted...an orthopedic surgeon is not really looking for anything with those results, but I wish I would have investigated it then. Whatever though, we can't go back and change things. Besides...2020 was not a good year for my family. I can't imagine adding anything else to everything I already had going on.

NORMAL feels so nice! My doctor left a comment today, "Lab results look good!"

I will take that win.

This week I am gearing up for my post DX colonoscopy. YAY me!
